In creating the “Disney Crime Scene” series, I focused on female Disney characters, notoriously young, beautiful and chipper, and set out to confront some of the false realities presented to children through fairy-tale movies, television and books. These perfect characters always live “happily ever after and avoid confronting the realities of life and death, which are, for the most part, beyond human control.

In taking a silly approach to the Disney reality, I created new, exaggerated endings to these fairy tale stories. To do this, I constructed the sets, made the characters’ costumes and shot the crime scenes with a large format camera and black and white film.
